Mat and Danielle are big fans of travelling light with only the essentials to carry around. Travel doesn't just end at the airport. Consider this......whatever you pack for a trip has to be hauled around in taxis, on the bus, on the train, in and out of hotels and hostels and so on.............

Extra tips to consider...after watching this vid

--- If using multiple Airlines....use the smallest suitcase restricted size...and include the handles and wheels in the measurements.....remember 1 inch = 2.5cm...and remember, there can also be a weight limit....and different weights.

--- If you pack shoes....fill them with...perhaps socks

--- Check that all 'over-the-counter' meds are legal in each country

--- Consider packing cubes (instead of roll-up clothes) as another option

--- Sewing kit can be a god-send often

--- Consider that the window seat can be a lot cooler...consider your clothing...if your going to a colder climate...wear the heaviest clothes to lighten your pack...you can always remove them in the plane

--- Try wearing a multi-pocketed jacket and jeans etc....you can just about fit another suitcase full in all the pockets..ha!

--- Try taking solid toiletries if possible...easier to manage and store...remember the 100ml rule on liquids

IN-FLIGHT Tips

7 simple little tips to help you enjoy your flight better....you may agree or disagree with them, however, there is an element of truth in these tips. Having flown for 60 years, I have often wondered about these claims myself! Anyway, they are only tips..........and here are a few more....tips

--- A simple little gift for the Aircrew will bring favour your way...and try and be courteous and grateful......it will go a long way, and you will get greater attention!

--- if you want to be able to stretch your legs,...try an isle seat

--- Eat slowly on a plane...remember your in a pressurised cabin

--- As you all know...drink a lot of water....coffee and tea will dehydrate you

BACKPACKING......Wilderness winter adventures..keeping warm tips

A good sleeping bag will only get you so far. In addition to a bag, Mat share tips and methods he use's for sleeping warm and comfortably during winter backpacking trips.

Remember Mats just trying to help you with a little info....this information is not exhaustive..for instance...you may need to take a wee bottle too, and blowing up a sleeping bag in the freezing cold may lead to complications!
